Paying a fee to get a letterbox

I think it is fine to hide a box where you have to pay a fee to get
in.
I have had to pay $4, $3, $2 etc etc in day use fees to enter many of
the parks where letterboxes are located. I have paid untold amounts
of money to parking meters, toll bridges and toll roads. And I have
bought wilderness passes so that I can park at some remote spots.

It is extremely nice if you go ahead and mention in your clues that
there is a fee, so that folks will be prepared. (Many times, I have
been digging around under the backseat of my car to find enough
quarters to pay a day use fee after I spent my last dollar on a
milkshake at the drivethru!)

While I completely agree with Amanda that it is OK to put a letterbox
somewhere that requires an admission fee... I put one somewhere in
Jamaica that essentially requires a $400 cruise to get there...

While I completely agree, I also think it is just fine to grouse,
complain, and bicker about the fee. It's part of the fun of life to
complain a bit about impersonal fees.

I would never complain about the boxer putting the box somewhere I
had to pay to get it. I might just enjoy complaining that the park
made me pay.

You are, in effect, helping pay for the something you and others like you enjoy.
I think the fee improves the quality of a place by the act of requiring a fee.
And that's something we all enjoy.
